Perspective

Christmas morning and I have a sore throat. Yuk.

I hate to be sick on holidays. And as long as I’m whining—

Went to fix a flat yesterday and came home with two new tires. On Christmas Eve, when one has all that spare cash lying around. Not!

Then, Charlotte noticed a leak on the basement hot water heater. Was beginning to soak the carpet. And the plumbers’ answering service kept putting me on hold. Seems others’ catastrophes were greater than mine.

But then—I  have friends undergoing chemo this week; others are experiencing their first Christmas with an empty chair at the table.

And I’m sure Mary and Joseph would have welcomed a warm house, even one with a leaky hot water heater.

Yep, I need a throat lozenge AND some perspective:

“And the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people” (Luke 2:10).
