Rush-hour in Houston

Just got off the phone with a child who was trying to visit with his dad while driving in rush-hour traffic. In Houston.

Yep, he had to drop the call. Some activities are mutually exclusive. To do one well you must stop doing the other.

I’ve always had trouble with that—letting go of something (checking Facebook, blogging maybe) that is keeping me from another something that is more important—like reading to a grandchild, listening (really listening) to a spouse or meditating on a Bible passage.

It’s one of the reasons I retired. I had said yes to so many things so many times that I couldn’t give any of them the attention they deserved.

The challenge now is to keep from doing it again.
