Fishing, Bicycles and Golf

So last week we drove up the Pecos Canyon near Terrero, New Mexico, and what did we see? More fishermen (and fisherwomen) casting for trout than I’ve ever seen along the Pecos. Ever.

Which made me think of Walmart during the quarantine. Do you know what was missing from shelves other than toilet paper? BICYCLES. And accessories like helmets, gloves and stuff. They were cleaned out.

Which brought up a recent conversation with my golfing enthusiast son. He couldn’t find a tee time at his newly opened course. For days.

The connection?

I think you know.

The pandemic has not only taken. It has given.

New pleasures along with rediscovered old ones.

And they all take place out-of-doors.

And that can’t be half-bad.
