I’ve spent much of my career teaching students to overcome it. Seems fear is the major culprit: fear of failure, of not being good enough.
Today, I’m wondering if I have a similar problem marketing the book. What if my efforts don’t work? What if readers don’t like my stuff?
I have my students write in journals to overcome writers’ block. It’s ungraded stuff, with topics and styles of their choosing. I do comment. I want them to experience the pleasure of being read, of connecting with readers. When that happens, they discover confidence, even joy in their writing.
Hmmm. Maybe I can find similar help in these journals. Sure hope so 🙂
