Changed a tire on the Camry last night. Hadn’t done that in . . . . . Well, it’s been a long time.
Before I could afford a AAA membership or buy better quality tires, seems I changed flats several times a year. Anyway, in spite of the inconvenience and mess – dirty hands and clothes – the experience was kind of rewarding.
Like starting a campfire without lighter fluid. In Boy Scouts, we did it without matches.
Point is such experiences are both rewarding and necessary in our high tech age – like being able to do the math when the computer goes down.
Call it resourcefulness or self-reliance, qualities too often lacking in modern society.
That said, sure hope I don’t have to change a tire for another 10 years. 🙂
