Confessions of a Practicing Worrier

Posted on

Thinking about the book signing today and remembering all those verses that tell me not to worry. You know, like Philippians:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (New Living Translation).

I wish it were that easy.

How does one “not worry”? For a practiced worrier like me, it sounds as likely as not breathing.

Hmm. Maybe that word “practiced” is key. For one actually can not breathe, huh? Swimmers do it all the time. They practice it; get good at it.

OK, so maybe I’ll try it this morning. Every¬† time I find myself worrying, I’ll hold my breath (um, I mean I’ll pray instead).

Will let you know how it goes.
