Was paying the ticket at Calico County, and the cashier recognized me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Bellah, remember me?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course; what\u2019s your name again?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAndrea B. I had you\u2014let\u2019s see\u20142006, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSure. How are you, Andrea?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course you remember me. I was special.\u201d Her grin was both mischievous and eerily familiar.<\/p>\n<p>And I did remember. Not Andrea, but the Andreas \u2013the special students who have graced my classes at AC.<\/p>\n<p>I remember their curiosity and hunger to learn, their initial fear\u2014then confidence in writing, their fresh, honest, insightful and passionate essays, their optimism, hopefulness, playfulness and, yes, laughter.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, how I will miss their laughter!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It happened again Sunday.
