In the last blog I wrote about not knowing the highways of the gods when we see them. So how do I intend to give you (and me) eyes to see and bodies to feel the joy of walking? Well, I can\u2019t do it alone. Henry David Thoreau (Walden Pond) said joyful, passionate walking is a gift from above: \u201cIt comes only by the grace of God. It requires a direct dispensation from Heaven to become a walker. You must be born into the family of Walkers.\u201d<\/p>\n
So I\u2019ll leave the heart change to the One who designed your feet. What I can do is expose you to the words of some of that family of walkers, most from earlier times when modernity had not yet stolen this simple pleasure from us. Perhaps, like me, you will find their words contagious.<\/p>\n
