{"id":858,"date":"2010-05-07T07:16:35","date_gmt":"2010-05-07T11:16:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fortispress.com\/blog\/?p=858"},"modified":"2010-10-21T17:36:11","modified_gmt":"2010-10-22T00:36:11","slug":"who-put-the-bomp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikebellah.com\/?p=858","title":{"rendered":"Who Put the Bomp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mikebellah.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/mb_color_bestyearsblog-150x15012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1110\" title=\"mb_color_bestyearsblog-150x1501\" src=\"http:\/\/mikebellah.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/mb_color_bestyearsblog-150x15012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Who put the bomp<br \/>\nIn the bomp bah bomp bah bomp<br \/>\nWho put the ram<br \/>\nIn the rama lama ding dong<\/p>\n<p>No, I wasn&#8217;t attending a reunion of the Canyon High School class of &#8217;67, but rather a performance put on last night by the CHS class of 2017, which includes my granddaughter Brooke.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Who Put the Bomp&#8221; was one of those doo-wop songs, recorded in 1961 by Barry Mann.<\/p>\n<p>Brooke&#8217;s choir performed an entire medley of oldies, including the sentimental &#8220;Johnny Angel,&#8221; whose girl refuses dates with other boys because she&#8217;d rather &#8220;concentrate on Johnny Angel \/ Cuz I love him \/ And I pray that someday he&#8217;ll love me.&#8221; Disgusting, huh?<\/p>\n<p>Interesting &#8211; that the music of our youth is still in vogue. Can&#8217;t imagine my 5th grade class in 1960 singing one of my parents&#8217; favorites, say the 1941 hit &#8220;Chattanooga Choo Choo.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But &#8217;60s music is still popular because, despite our age, we baby boomers represent a healthy portion of the populace.
