Live Huge

“Live huge.”

It’s how Ginny Auer’s husband Troy signed his last letter to her. That happened a little over a year ago when Troy  succumbed to a rare form of cancer.

According to Ginny, “live huge” was the philosophy her husband lived by. Every day was a time to “suck the marrow from the bones of life.”

And “living huge” is the way Ginny has chosen to honor her husband. Among other things, she has decided to pursue a lifelong dream of a career in photo journalism.

And this summer, along with the couple’s eight-year-old daughter, Tess, Ginny is taking a marathon trip to all the places Troy loved, crisscrossing much of the continental U.S, pausing along the way to show Tess the meaning of her daddy’s words.

Last week, Ginny and Tess were at the Grand Canyon, then Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. And Sunday night they were onboard Amtrak’s Southwest Chief where they shared a meal and their story with Charlotte and me.

We parted with green bracelets they gave us with the words “Live Huge” engraved across them. But Charlotte and I didn’t need the reminder.

Anyone who spends time with this courageous mother and daughter will carry the words engraved on their hearts.

  1. This is cool that you are getting to meet people from all walks of life. Thanks for sharing her story. I’m going to take more time to look at the website. Thinking there may be a blog post in it for me too.
