Can’t Make This Stuff Up

Dear Citizens of Amarillo,

I apologize for calling you thieves.

It started when I went for an early morning bike ride, then moved some stuff to the new house, then showered and got ready for lunch—and, then, discovered it was gone.

My wallet—obviously one of you had entered my unlocked front door and taken it.

Obviously.

Then that afternoon a guy called saying he had the wallet. Found it at the intersection of 81st and Soncy.

Bingo. I remembered. My hands were full but I needed to get another TV remote out of the back of the pickup. So I temporarily placed (TEMPORARILY) my wallet on the cab.

Which is where it stayed until I turned left from 81st and accelerated south on Soncy.

That’s not the end of this story. The returned wallet had my checks, but the credit cards were missing.

Until another of my “thieves”—a Walmart truck driver—called to say he had rescued them from the shoulder of Soncy Road.

Still not the end of this story. Guess how the caller found me?

Facebook—he searched my name and found that we had one common friend. Are you ready? My next door neighbor.

You can’t make this stuff up. 🙂
