A Special Feast

Prepared a special feast in my fire pit yesterday.

Cooked the same as when I was in Boy Scouts.

Used mesquite—not too green (coals won’t last), nor too thick (won’t go to coals soon enough).

—One half-pound hamburger patty, surrounded with veggies (mostly shredded potatoes)

—Wrapped in heavy duty tin foil, carefully folded at the edges (don’t want any drippings to escape)

Wait ‘til the flame disappears. If not, it will burn through the tin foil (more lost drippings).

Place directly on hot coals, 4 to 6 minutes per side.

Open carefully with a fork, careful not to get burned by the steam.

Salt and pepper to taste.

Perfect.
