What if the baby boom generation—who were recipients of JFK’s fitness program in schools of the ‘50s and ‘60s—could once again return walking to an everyday practice for ordinary Americans—young and old?
How could that happen? Well, I’m pretty sure we won’t do it by lecturing on the subject. Similarly, Kennedy’s words in Sports Illustrated weren’t enough to effect a change. What was? There are dozens of pictures of President Kennedy walking with ordinary people. He didn’t just talk about it; he did it.
And if we want to follow in his steps, we’ll need to do the same. Just showing up for regular walks is an advertisement for others to follow. And, if you want to go a step further, take a grandchild along.

I hope you noticed my video on Walking as a Child. I posted it last Monday. I intend to do this for 6 to 10 weeks, every Monday having a different video with a different theme. Hopefully these one-minute spots will be enjoyable in themselves, and they’ll help me get the word out about the book. To date, the first has had over 200 views which means several of you are clicking the share arrow (under the video the arrow that reaches up and to the right). Thank you for that.
One more thing—you can still share the last one. Just find it on my page and click the arrow. Once clicked you can add a line: “Check out my friend Mike Bellah’s new book.”
