On Thunderstorms

Wrote this entry late yesterday afternoon while sitting on the back porch, watching a thunderstorm try to form around us.

I loveĀ  thunder and lightening – although the latter can be scary when alone on the flat prairie or above timberline in the Rockies.

Mountain thunderstorms are my favorite. Last summer we saw several, one which left a double rainbow framing the jagged peaks above Ouray, Colorado.

Heaven will be that beautiful.

And I love the smell of rain, which is pleasant enough on the dry plains of Texas, but is absolutely intoxicating when mixed with the scent of pines.

Do I sound homesick for the mountains? I am. And, in just a little over three weeks, Char and I will be back in our beloved Ouray, maybe – hopefully – watching an afternoon shower.
